WHERE WE ARE

Our office is located on the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, Australia.

As the 2020 year closed, we also closed the door of our long term office in Maroochydore for the last time. January 2021 opened a new chapter in our story as we proudly commenced operations out of our forever home, in the ‘Capital One’ building, on the corner of Capital Place, Birtinya.

Whittaker and Associates is a firm of Quantity Surveyors and Construction Cost Consultants. We have a long legacy of involvement with Queensland development projects. Our experienced team provide expert consultancy to the construction industry from our base on the stunning Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, Australia.

1981

Quantity Surveying on the Sunshine Coast.

Our story can be traced back to when the UK trained Quantity Surveyor Graham Lukins, relocates from Sydney to offer his services to the growing Sunshine Coast region.

1999

Paul Whittaker joins Graham Lukins Partnership.

Paul commenced a QS position with Graham and Pam in the Maroochy Waters Professional Centre, in March 1999, beginning a working relationship that was to continue for twenty years.

2007

53 Duporth Avenue, Maroochydore.

The full-service QS firm moved along the Maroochy River into the larger office space of a converted high-set Queenslander. Caroline joins the small team, becoming a tax depreciation specialist.

2009

Add one makes eight.

Strong growth sees Simon joining Graham, Paul, Caroline, Martin, Al, Pam and Gemma to help get the work done in the busy office. Along with QS work for new development projects, there is a high demand for body corporate reporting, especially rebuilding costs for insurance purposes, and sinking fund budget forecasts.

2017

Whittaker & Lukins Associates.

Paul Whittaker agrees to purchase the firm from Lukins. A new trading name reflects the ownership change. Graham transitions into retirement, working part-time for Paul. Anna starts as office manager.

2018

We welcome Nishan and farewell Graham Lukins.

Nishan commences work with the QS team mid-year. Graham embraced retirement full time in December.

2019

Whittaker & Associates.

The Lukins name is retired. The Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors awards Paul with the designation of Certified Quantity Surveyor (CQS). Rod returns to the QS team, following a stint with the firm around 2014

2020

Preparation for an inevitable relocation.

With development projects going up all around us on Duporth Avenue, it was only a matter of time before we would have to move. The search for a new home had begun a year earlier but there were very few office spaces for sale amongst the many for lease. We desired to remain in a central location between Noosa and Caloundra, close to Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba and Buderim to facilitate travel efficiency. Sufficient parking spaces became the most important factor. Our minds were opened to considering opportunities to purchase office space in Kawana Waters and Birtinya. In the last days before the Christmas break the office furniture and our 100-drawer filing cabinet collection, housing thirty years of records, were loaded into the removalist truck.

2021

Establishing our forever-home.

In the new year, operations recommence out of suite one in the building named Capital One at 9 Capital Place, Birtinya. We traded the Maroochy River for the calming Lake Kawana.
